Manchester United 2-0 Newcastle – Game Highlights
Both Man United and Newcastle headed to the final to search for silverware which Ten Hag’s men has not won since 2017.
And goal from Casemiro’s header and Rashford’s shot that touched Sven Botman before hitting the net settled it all as Man United ended their longest trophy drought in 40 years.
The Magpies’s first final did not end well when the same scoreline and the same opponents beat them as it happened in the 1999 FA Cup.
David de Gea produced massive save to deny Allan Saint-Maximin’s close range short in the first half.
In the matter of seven minutes, Casemiro headed home Luke Shaw’s free kick to open the score, only before Botman deflected Rashford’s strike over former Liverpool Loris Karius.
Wout Weghorst had his shot saved by the Newcastle keeper in first-half stoppage time, which could have put things to bed.
After the break, Magpies returned with determination to search for a comeback but unable to mount one.
Ten Hag’s first ever trip to Wembley saw him lifting the first title for the club since Jose Mourinho as the only Man United’s manager to win a major trophy in their first season in charge.
