What happened?
Many sources are pointing out that Messi is very near to the exit after what the whistles and jeers he received by Paris Saint-Germain fans.
Italian reporter and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano stated that Al Hilal, who is competing with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr at Saudi Pro League, have proposed an offer worth in excess of €400 million per year for the PSG forward.
Ahead of the outing by PSG and Lyon, the French capital fans could be heard booing upon seeing Messi starting.
It is reported that his priority is to continue his career in Europe, but despite having received an offer from PSG, he is yet to accept their new terms.
Sources from Sky Sports and ESPN are also sure about Messi looking unlikely to remain in Paris, with the Argentina international not willing to take a salary reduction. Additionally, he is prepared to wait to see what proposals come his way at the end of the campaign.
Will Messi return to Barcelona?
Romano and Catalan reporter Gerard Romeno both tweeted about the race to sign Messi at the end of this season, although the Camp Nou hierarchy are currently waiting to see the result of their ongoing Financial Fair Play dispute.
Fox Sports, via Veronica Brunati, listed the first offer that Barcelona could give to Messi:
- A salary similar to that of Robert Lewandowski.
- A percentage of sponsorship revenue.
- Contract until 2025 (1 fixed + 1 optional year).
- A tribute match with full Camp Nou.
France legends are unhappy with the treatments from PSG fans toward Messi
Following what happened at the PSG loss to Lyon, France legends Thierry Henry and Emmanuel Petit expressed their frustration to the PSG ultras.
Henry, who played alongside with Messi at Barcelona, urged La Pulga to ‘go back to Barcelona for the love of football’. Meanwhile, Arsenal great Petit advised Messi to ‘get out of this club.’
