What happened
The historic victory on Sunday morning is a significant milestone as it marked the first gold for Vietnam at the sports.
Beating basketball powerhouse Philippines is something that the Vietnam’s girls should be very proud of as they ended the prolonged domination of this country, also, Thailand.
Last year, almost the same girls lost to Thailand at home in the final 19-21.
This year on Cambodia soil, the likes of Huynh Thi Ngoan, Nguyen Thi Tieu Duy, Truong Thao My, and Truong Thao Vy, entered the final match with belief that they could turn the tide this time.
They got the first score and forced the Filipina opponents to get involved in a tense chase before eventually ended with the final result 21-16.
The winners could be seen burst into tears of joy after they won the final.
Eight countries, namely Vietnam, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and Cambodia, were participating in the 3×3 basketball category at SEA Games 32, hosted by Cambodia in Phnom Penh City and Siem Reap, Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, and Kep Provinces from May 5 to 17, 2023.
