De Gea – a man of record
Signed in 2012 as one of the last signings by the Great, Sir Alex Ferguson, the 32-year-old proved to be one of the best goalkeeper for years.
- David De Gea made 14 saves in Manchester United’s 3-1 win at Arsenal back in December 2017
- No goalkeeper has made more in a Premier League match since we started collecting Opta data in 2009/10
His departure left a end of an era, which saw Man United last lifted the Premier League trophy in 2013 – Sir Alex’s last season with the Red Devils, as he was the last one from that year’s squad to finally leave.
Onana is set to replace De Gea
The Telegraph reports that Manchester United will move on to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
According to the English’s outlet, the Manchester-based club poised to step up their efforts to land Champions League finalist Inter Milan’s Onana as his replacement.
“Ten Hag’s pre-season matches start on July 12 against Leeds and his squad will fly to America for a tour later this month”, per Telegraph.
Onana was Ten Hag’s goalkeeper when the Dutch side reached the Champions League semi-final before the Cameroon international moved to Inter, reaching the Champions League final last season.
The Italian club want £51.5 million for their keeper, with the deal still at its very early stages despite a willingness to do business from all parties.
Chris Wheeler from Daily Mail claimed that two clubs have agreed on terms, while Fabrizio Romano revealed that it’s only matter of days before an official announcement to be released.
The Italian transfer guru tweeted that the goalkeeper has already agreed terms with Red Devils, with an official bid will be accepted.
