Champions League and Europa League last-16 draws: All you need to know
The Champions League’s draw and Europa League’s draw is about to be set as Group Stages are now finished.

European competitions are about to reveal the biggest clashes. Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League draws occur on Monday, 18 December.
Last season’s semifinalist, AC Milan, was out of the Champions League but is still in line for the Europa League play-off. At the same time, Man City could face Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona in the next round.
English Premier League dominates with eight clubs in the next round, with Brighton, Liverpool, Rangers and West Ham all going straight into the last 16.
And in the Europa Conference League, Aston Villa will be in the last 16. Still, Aberdeen are out after finishing third in Group G.
Champions League draw: When and Where?
The Champions League last-16 draw will be held
- On Monday, 18 December
- 11:00 GMT
- At the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
Draw’s Mechanic
- Each group winner will be seeded and drawn against a team that finished second in another group, all unseeded.
- Teams cannot draw a club who are from the same country or a team who were in the same group as them.
- Fixtures of The last 16 will be played across two weeks,
- 13-14 and 20-21 February 2024
- The second legs are on March 5-6 and March 12-13.
The draws for the quarter-finals and semi-final will be done together on Friday, 15 March.
Champions League qualifiers
- Seeded: Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad.
- Unseeded: Copenhagen, Inter Milan, Lazio, RB Leipzig, Napoli, Paris St-Germain, Porto, PSV Eindhoven.
Europa League draw
The Europa League knockout play-off draw will be held an hour later than the Champions League last-16 draw on Monday, 18 December, at 12:00 GMT at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
Europa League’s mechanic for the draw
- Each runner-up from the Europa League group stages will be seeded and drawn against teams who finished third in the Champions League group stages, who are all unseeded.
- Teams cannot draw a club who are from the same country.
- The eight group winners advance straight to the last 16, where they will be seeded against the eight knockout play-off round winners.
- Again, teams cannot draw a club who are from the same country.
When is the knockout play-off round played?
- The first legs of the play-offs will be played on 15 February 2024, with the second legs on 22 February.
- The draw for the round of 16 will be held on 23 February, with the first legs played on 7 March and the second legs taking place on 14 March.

- Group winners into the last 16: Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen, Brighton, Liverpool, Rangers, Villarreal, Slavia Prague, West Ham.
- Seeded in play-offs: Freiburg, Marseille, Qarabag, Rennes, Roma, Sparta Prague, Sporting Lisbon, Toulouse.
- Unseeded in play-offs: Benfica, Braga, Feyenoord, Galatasaray, Lens, Milan, Shakhtar Donetsk, Young Boys.

The Europa Conference League knockout play-off draw will be held on Monday, 18 December at 13:00 GMT at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.
