Barcelona appointed Hansi Flick as new manager
Barcelona officially announced Hansi Flick as the new club’s manager with a contract until 2026.
The decision was taken only briefly after the Catalan side sacked Xavi as ex-Bayern Munich and Germany manager Hansi Flick appointed new Barcelona boss on a two-year deal.
The Spaniard manager Xavi announced in January his desire to leave the club at the end of the season but reversed his decision. Barca were crowned champions in his first full season in charge, but they subsequently failed to mount a serious challenge this time around, surrendering their title to rivals Real Madrid.
The 44-year-old took the Catalans to the Champions League quarter-finals where they lost to Paris Saint-Germain.

“I’m proud to be at Barça, it’s a wonderful and incredible club really”, Flick said at the press conference.
“We share the same vision, possession and quality football”. “Barça has La Masia, one of the best academies in the world; so our mission is to improve all the players”.
Germany dismissed Flick in September following a 4-1 friendly defeat to Japan on the back of a group-stage exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
He served as assistant coach to Joachim Low when his country won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil before clinching back-to-back Bundesliga titles and the 2020 Champions League during a two-season stay with Bayern.
The German enjoyed his spell with Bayern Munich, where he won the treble, having smashed Barcelona 8-2 at that time under Robert Lewandowski’s management.
