Guardiola enjoying the NBA Finals
The Manchester City manager sat courtside at TD Garden in Boston, seemingly enjoying the intense Finals action on Thursday.
Guardiola was also seen wearing a Celtics hoodie, suggesting he is rooting for the home team.
Celtics drew first blood in Game 1, scoring a 109-87 victory over the Mavericks.
The Spanish coach previously said that he looked up to some legends in the world of tennis and basketball.
“Incredible athletes, [Roger] Federer, [Novak] Djokovic, [Rafa] Nadal,”Guardiola said.
“The biggest dynasties in the NBA . It’s not easy in the NBA to have a team like the Chicago Bulls with [Michael] Jordan. I’m not comparing with that, don’t misunderstand me. The NBA has a lot of clubs with two or three in a row.”
Guardiola meets up with Joe Mazzulla
Prior to the NBA Finals, Guardiola had the chance to chat with Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla.
The pair even exchanged uniforms, with Guardiola holding a Celtics jersey and Mazzulla receiving a Man City shirt.
Mazzulla is a City fan
Interestingly, the 35-year-old Mazzulla is also a City fan.
Mazzulla actually visited Guardiola at Manchester City’s football academy in February.
The American told The Athletic that Guardiola was “the best coach at any level in sport.”
T”hat is what the game of basketball is about, to me, and what counterattacking in soccer is about,’
“So I study a lot of Man City. I study Pep a lot. I think he’s the best coach at any level, in any sport. It’s had a huge influence (on me).”
