Martin on fans body shaming him
Adam made his EURO 2024 appearance as a substitute late in Hungary’s opening 3-1 defeat by Switzerland in Cologne.
People were quick to notice a player standing 6-foot-3 and weighing around 86 kilograms (189 pounds) running onto the pitch.
His large ginger beard also stood out to fans online, earning him the nickname ‘Hungarian Viking.’
The 29-year-old said he doesn’t mind these people mocking at his physique.
“The posts? Of course one or two get to me, I usually have a laugh about it,” Adam said.
“I was born this way, I have this body shape. “sI’m not saying that I was this big when I was born, but I have a basic physique. Genetics — I can’t change that.”
Hungary coach defends Martin
However, Hungary head coach Marco Rossi came to the defense of his player, saying the personal attacks were unacceptable.
“We see the pictures or photographs [memes], the idiots [who] are at the keyboard [or] bravely at their computer — as long as it’s that, it’s acceptable because we cannot control the minds of these people,”
“But when on blogs people offend the players, well that’s unacceptable. That’s disrespectful. So it’s very unpleasant what happened to him. His body, build is what it is since his birth, so I truly hope he will score at this European Championship. That would be very rewarding and satisfying for him.”
“But I think he was unaffected because he’s an exceptional lad and we are very happy to have him with us.”

Ready for Germany
Adam, who has 23 caps for Hungary, is hopeful that the team will stand a chance against Germany on Wednesday.
Hungary need at least a point to boost their chance of progressing to the knockout stage.
“We beat them [Germany] in 2022, so I’m sure it will be an extra motivation for them,” Adm said on Tuesday. “They’ll be thinking: ‘Not again.’ But it’s clear from the first game that this Germany side is a completely different proposition to what they were back then or even last year.”
