Mbappe returns to France training

Mbappe was seen wearing wound-closure bandage across his nose.

The Real Madrid-bound superstar first trained alone at France’s base in Paderborn before joining his teammates in finishing drills.

France manager Didier Deschamps said the team captain will most likely require surgery after the tournament.

Nonetheless, Deschamps assured the team’s medical staff would continue to monitor his condition.

“Even if there is not surgery immediately, he will have to do it after the tournament,” said the French coach. “This morning [Wednesday] he was already a little better, so we will see. We will follow it closely every day.”

Mbappe, 25, is expected to miss Les Bleus’ game against the Netherlands on Friday in Leipzig.

However, the French Football Federation is optimistic that Mbappe will return in time for his squad’s crucial games.

Mbappe even hinted in his Instagram post that he will return soon for France.

“Without risks, there are no victories,” the striker wrote.

“A fractured nose isn’t the end of the world”

The newly signed Real Madrid star collided with Austria’s Kevin Danso late in the Group D game at Dusseldorf Arena.

Midfielder Adrien Rabiot is confident that Mbappe will return to action as soon as possible.

Even if Mbappe doesn’t return immediately in the ongoing Euros, Rabiot knows that his teammates can step up and rise to the occasion.

France will face Poland in their final Group D match in Dortmund on Tuesday.

“A fractured nose isn’t the end of the world, so he should be with us pretty soon,” Rabiot said.

“We definitely want him to play but looking at who we have on the bench we have what it takes to replace Kylian,” he said. “We have to count on the group. If he is not there then it is going to be more tough but I trust the great players we have on the team.”
