After beating host Germany, Spain proved to be the best team in the Euro so far with another convincing victory against a heavy title contender.

Kolo Muani scored within 8 minutes into the first half of the semifinal. Still, Barcelona wonderkid Yamal drew a perfect curve to equalize before Dani Olmo accomplished the comeback within four minutes for Spain.

Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Olivier Giroud, and Antoine Griezmann made little to no threats to Spain as France bowed out, yet again, another Euro, having failed to reach the final since 2016.

Meanwhile, Yamal became the youngest goalscorer in European Championship history after scoring to put his side in the final. Spain are deserved finalists, having been the best side at these Euros, winning all five games and scoring a tournament-high 13 goals.

Within four minutes, Spain finished the comeback, thanks to Yamal and Olmo. Yamal’s goal came in the 21st minute, and Spain were ahead just four minutes later as Olmo’s shot was turned home by France defender Jules Kounde.

France fought for a leveler, but the likes of Mbappe, Dembele or Theo Hernandez could only managed to register three shots on target in the total of five for the whole match.

Mbappe, playing without a face mask for the first time since breaking his nose at the start of the tournament, had a big chance to equalize late on – but he shot high over the bar in a moment that summed up his recent form.

While Spain has been the most attacking side at the tournament to date, they showed here they have the defence to match as they stayed on course for a fourth European Championship title.

France fell short and lacked creativity

France reached the World Cup final two years ago and undoubtedly had the quality of players to replicate that run here. But a mixture of reserved tactics and Mbappe’s injury made them fall just short.

Mabppe, who scored only one goal at Euro 2024, has yet to look right since he broke his nose in the opening game against Austria.

A great cross to set up France’s goal here suggested he may have found his form at just the right time, but after that, there was little to be seen of him in the crucial moments.

So Didier Deschamps’ side departed, having scored just four goals, with only one from one of their players in open play.
