FORMER PAKISTAN FAST BOWLER DARES SINGH, INDIA TO PLAY IN 2025 CHAMPIONS TROPHY
Furthermore, former Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir has dared Singh and Team India to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy in Islamabad.
Moreover, Singh acknowledged a “safety concern” in Pakistan that has prevented the Indian government from sending a team to play in Islamabad for several years.
However, Tanvir responded that Pakistan’s cricket team has continued to play in India without any hitches for a long time.
“We are lions. We have come to your den and played you. If you have the courage, come here and play,” the ex-Pakistan cricketer said.
“We will give you security, we’ll give you everything. Come for once,” he added.
Incidentally, the last time an Indian cricket team played in Pakistan was in 2006.
BCCI CITES SECURITY ISSUES FOR KEEPING INDIAN CRICKETERS FROM PLAYING IN PAKISTAN, SAYS SINGH
Moreover, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), cited security issues for keeping Indian cricketers from playing in Pakistan, says Singh.
Furthermore, Pakistan hosted the 2023 Asian Cup, where India never played any match in Islamabad.
Instead, the BCCI requested for all India matches to be held in Sri Lanka instead.
“I don’t think it is safe to go there (Pakistan). Incidents occur there almost everyday,” Singh told IANS.
“The BCCI’s stance is completely correct, because the players’ security comes first,” he added.
NO ICC RESPONSE YET ON STAND IN URGING INDIA TO PLAY IN 2025 CHAMPIONS TROPHY
Furthermore, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has yet to make a response on its stand on India not playing in next year’s Champions Trophy.
Moreover, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) last month left the ICC to decide whether it will convince India to play in Islamabad next year.
The 2025 Champions Trophy will run from February 19 until March 9.
A PCB source earlier confirmed that a draft schedule and an event format had already been submitted for the tournament.
There was no arrangement made between PCB chair Moshin Naqvi and BCCI secretary Jay Shah to discuss the issue.
Meanwhile, Tanvir lauded the Pakistan crickets for their “bravery” in visiting India to play.
“Only Pakistan players can come and play. They went to India and played. That’s what you call bravery,” he said.
