PCB CHIEF TO AVOID ISSUING STATEMENTS ON INDIA’S 2025 CHAMPIONS TROPHY STINT

Furthermore, PCB chief Naqvi is committed to avoiding issuing statements to the media.

This is regarding India’s 2025 Champions Trophy stint.

Naqvi advised his office and colleagues not to issue any statements related to India’s stand.

India is not keen on sending a team to Islamabad for the tournament due to security concerns.

Moreover, according to a source, the PCB chief has issued a policy to be implemented for himself and the officials.

“That is why in recent days, there’s no comments or statement coming from either Naqvi or any other board official,” a PCB insider told Press Trust of India.

RESUME CHAMPIONS TROPHY PREPARATIONS AS IF INDIA WILL JOIN, NAQVI SAID

Moreover, Naqvi instructed all concerned officials to continue preparations for the Champions Trophy assuming India will join.

“The PCB has sent the draft schedule and submitted all other documents including security plans for each team to the ICC,” he added.

Furthermore, a team from the International Cricket Council (ICC) will visit Pakistan in September for a final inspection of the three match venues.

Organizers have chosen Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi as the tournament venues.

On the other hand, the PCB wants to ensure that renovation work on the three stadiums in the said venues will go uninterrupted.

NAQVI TO STAY MUM ON ISSUE AFTER TANVEER AHMED RESPONSE TO SINGH COMMENTS

Furthermore, Naqvi is expected to stay mum on the issue to avoid a word war with Indian cricket officials.

It would be recalled that former Pakistan fast bowler Tanveer Ahmed responded to Harbhajan Singh’s comments about the matter.

“It is clear Naqvi doesn’t want to show the PCB’s cards on what will be the reaction of the board if India again refuses to send its team,” another insider said.

“But behind closed doors (and) after meetings with the government officials, a strategy has been finalized,” he added.

Ahmed recently dared Singh and the India men’s cricket team to visit Pakistan and play next year.

Moreover, the PCB is letting the ICC convince India to change its decision.
