BANGLADESH-PAKISTAN TESTS UNCERTAIN DESPITE PCB’S EARLY FLIGHT OFFERS
Furthermore, the scheduled tests remained uncertain.
This is despite the PCB’s offer to provide early fights to Bangladeshi cricketers.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday decided to delay the arrival of their team to Pakistan by 48 hours.
Moreover, Bangladesh was scheduled to play two Tests in Rawalpindi from August 21-25 and in Karachi from August 30 to September 3.
However, civil unrest hit Bangladesh after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign and flee the country.
A PCB source said the BCB received an early flight offer for the Tests in Rawalpindi.
“The PCB has even offered to host their players for the extra days and provide them with all the training facilities in Rawalpindi,” the source said.
“But they (PCB) have not responded as yet,” the source added.
PCB VOWS TO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH BCB TO MONITOR SITUATION
Moreover, the PCB vows to keep in touch with the BCB to monitor the situation in Bangladesh.
However, communication has been difficult in Bangladesh under the circumstances, multiple reports said.
Moreover, the departure of BCB president Najmul Hosain Papon in Bangladesh has also made the PCB’s efforts for communication difficult.
“With the PCB president (Papon) also leaving the country, apparently the board us not functioning properly,” the source said.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka airport was shut down on Monday, forcing the BCB to delay the team’s flight.
Instead of arriving in Islamabad on Tuesday, the team hopes to leave for Pakistan on Friday.
Incidentally, the Bangladesh women’s team’s preparation for the T20 World Cup was also affected due to the civil unrest.
