Dominic Solanke signs with Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur officially agreed to sign striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, the North London club announced on Saturday.

Solanke joins Tottenham Hotspur

The 26-year-old signed a six-year deal worth around £65 million ($83m), making it a record outgoing transfer for Bournemouth.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou said he is on board with the arrival of Solanke in Tottenham, since the club has struggled in attack after Harry Kane’s move to Bayern Munich.

“We have got [Dominic] at a really good time in his career,” he told reporters after Tottenham’s 3-2 defeat by Bayern Munich in a friendly. “He has had to work his way back up which I always think is a good thing.”

“Sometimes when careers go smoothly you wonder how people will handle setbacks but he had setbacks earlier in his career. He has fought his way back and become a really good Premier League striker, it’s a testament to his character.”

“We are a bit light in that front third and in terms of adding quality Dom certainly does that. We didn’t really have a player who can make the impact Dom can just with his general play.”

“Everything I’ve wanted really

Solanke had a standout campaign last season with Bournemouth, netting 21 goals in 42 games across all competitions.

Overall, the striker has scored 77 times in 216 appearances for the club since his arrival in 2019.

The England international expressed his excitement to suit up for Spurs.

“It means so much – to sign for a club like Tottenham is everything I’ve wanted really. It’s a magnificent club, a huge club with ambitions that match mine so I’m delighted to start and meet all the boys,” he said.

“What excites me most about the club is how ambitious it is. It has a great manager, great players and I feel like it suits my style of play as well, so I can’t wait to get started and do my stuff on the pitch.”
