Drake joins Serie A side Venezia as investor, kit sponsor

Canadian rapper Drake joined global investment firm APEX Capital, and he is now an investor for Serie A club Venezia.

Drake joins Venezia as investor

Reports stated that Drake helped the club raise around €40m to save the club from bankruptcy.

APEX, an investment firm that specialize in sports, media, and entertainment, confirmed Drake’s addition to the project.

They also have stakes in the Alpine F1 team and the Bay Golf Club.

“Global icon Drake has joined @veneziafc investor group alongside APEX to fund the club ahead of its Serie A season,” the company said on Instagram.

Additionally, APEX also said that NOCTA will be Venezia’s official kit sponsor.

NOCTA is a sub-brand from Nike owned by Drake.

“His Nike sub-brand NOCTA becomes the team’s official kit sponsor, a huge step towards the merging of culture and sports.”

Drake’s management team spokesman Matte Babel also confirmed his new venture into European football.

“We’re excited to partner with Venezia FC, a team that embodies the rich history and vibrant culture of Venice,” he said.

“It’s the perfect intersection of sport and culture and we’re looking forward to contributing to a franchise that stretches beyond the pitch.”

Venezia on board with the global icon

Before NOCTA, Venezia had a partnership with the Italian sports brand Kappa, which lasted through previous seasons until June.

Venezia’s full collection of kits will be released in September.

“One of Venezia FC’s goals is to leverage the global popularity of football and bring international attention to one of the most culturally significant cities in the world,” Venezia FC brand manager Fabrizia Monteleone said.

“Venezia FC serves as an ambassador for the city of Venice and the club’s relationship with NOCTA will reinforce Venezia FC’s broader mission to celebrate the city’s cultural heritage.”

Drake has been a regular collaborator with sports teams, currently serving as an ambassador for the NBA’s Toronto Raptors.
