Foden wins PFA Players’ Player of the Year award

Foden, 24, becomes the fourth City player in five years to receive the most votes from fellow professionals for the Player of the Year award.

Kevin De Bruyne (2020, 2021) and Erling Haaland (2023) have also received this honor.

The striker was previously recognized as the PFA Young Player of the Year in both 2021 and 2022.

The England international enjoyed a stellar season, tallying 19 goals and eight assists in 35 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Earlier this summer, he also won the Premier League Player of the Season.

Foden thankful for the award

Foden wasted no time in expressing his gratitude to the fellow players who voted for him.

He also gave a special mention to the entire Blues squad.

“To win this award is something very special and it is one that I am very proud of and grateful for,” Foden said. “To be recognised this way by your fellow professionals means everything and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.

“I also want to pay special thanks to Pep, the City coaches, and all my teammates as they help me to try and get better every single day.

“Last season was another very special one for everyone at the Club. But now all our focus is concentrated on trying to achieve more success this term.”

Elsewhere, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer was announced as the PFA Young Player of the Year.

Palmer, 21, recorded 27 goals and 15 assists in all competitions during his first season at Stamford Bridge.

The young forward completed a £40 million transfer from City last year.
