Odegaard injury updates

The midfielder hurt his ankle during international duty with Norway at the UEFA Nations League. Earlier, his swollen, sprained ankle appeared on social media.

Arsenal are still waiting to discover the full extent of Odegaard’s injury. Still, he is predicted to be unavailable for the next three weeks.

This means he will miss Sunday’s north London derby and the trip to Manchester City on 22 September.

The Norwegian FA stated that he had sustained a ‘bad ankle injury’; the scan will soon reveal the official level.

When is the final result of Odegaard’s injury scan in?

According to the Guardian, Norway’s team doctor, Ola Sand, revealed that the initial MRI scan had indicated no fracture. However, he is still likely to be sidelined for at least the rest of September and will miss Arsenal’s opening Champions League game against Atalanta and the visit to City three days later.

“Such ankle injuries often take at least three weeks,” Sand told the Norwegian newspaper VG. “What we have so far obtained from the MRI examination in London is that there is probably no fracture in the ankle. It is always a bit difficult to interpret an MRI scan when you have had an old injury, but Arsenal are almost certain there is no breach, but this may still take some time.”

Odegaard’s absence means Mikel Arteta will be without three key midfielders for the meeting with Tottenham. The new signing Mikel Merino is out for two months because of a shoulder fracture. Declan Rice is suspended after his red card against Brighton.

Arsenal could be without the entire first-choice midfield for the North London derby on Sunday before away games at Atalanta and Man City.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is a doubt for Sunday’s North London derby. He was pictured using crutches to board a plane to London after injuring his ankle in action for Norway.

Odegaard’s injury is a huge concern, and Mikel Arteta may be denied his entire first-choice midfield for the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
