BROOK REPLACES INJURED BUTTLER AS ENGLAND CAPTAIN FOR ODI SERIES

xxx Furthermore, Brook replaces injured Buttler as England captain for their five-match ODIs (One-Day Internationals) series against Australia.

Moreover, the 25-year-old batsman will replace Buttler, who has been sidelined with a calf injury since June.

At the time, England lost to India in the T20 World Cup semifinal in Guyana.

The 34-year-old Buttler has since missed that three-match series, which ends on Sunday.

It will be a major upgrade for Brook, who was the captain of England’s Under-19 World Cup team in 2018.

‘BROOKY’ GETS ‘GREAT OPPORTUNITY’ AS ENGLAND SKIPPER, SAY BUTTLER

Moreover, “Brooky” gets a “great opportunity” as England skipper, says Buttler.

“It’s going to be a great opportunity for Brooky to be the captain. He is a pretty laid-back character, but I think he has everything in line,” Buttler said.

“He is a really good thinker about it… I’m sure he’ll do that his own way, and he’ll get a feel for those moments (in games),” he added.

Brook replaced Buttler despite the former listing only 15 caps in ODI cricket in his career so far.

Meanwhile, Buttler’s injury also prompted England to recall Liam Livingstone for the 50-over side after he was initially left out.

BUTTLER SEEKS COMEBACK FROM INJURY BUT WANTS ‘TO GET IT RIGHT’

Furthermore, Buttler seeks a comeback from his injury but wants “to get it right” in his recovery period.

“It’s obviously a shame to miss some cricket and stuff, but I just want to get it right. There’s a lot to look forward to in the future,” Buttler said.

“Injuries force you to stop and take a different perspective, and it’s nice to be around the guys, getting to know some new faces and seeing what they’re all about,” he added.

Incidentally, Buttler confirmed having conversations with incoming England coach Brendon McCullum regarding his condition.

“Having spoken to Baz (McCullum) about it, he stumbled across it with injury preventing him from keeping wicket,” Buttler said.

“But then he really enjoyed being next to the bowler at mid-off,” he added.
