Members of the European Club Association (ECA) back the planned major change.

Under the proposed change, the uniform transfer deadline would close on August 15 next year.

This was agreed upon by ECA executives from England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France.

Dutch businessman and football supporter Chris Woerts was supportive of the change.

“Next year, the transfer window must close on August 15, before the leagues kick-off,” Woerts said.

“Everyone is getting frustrated and annoyed by the fact that players are still being sold for weeks while the competitions have started,” he added.

Furthermore, the new proposal hopes that the rest of Europe’s top football leagues will follow the Premier League’s lead.

Moreover, Woerts assured that many clubs are committed to getting the change implemented as soon as possible.

“The clubs are working hard to get the decision made,” the Dutch businessman said.

“Next year, the transfer window must close on August 15,” he added.

It remains to be seen whether Barcelona, Real Madrid, or other La Liga clubs will follow in the footsteps of their Premier League counterparts.
