Man United eyed Max Allegri to place Ten Hag after humiliated defeat at Spurs

Man United reportedly wants Max Allegri to replace Erik ten Hag after a humiliating defeat at Tottenham Hotspur.

Ten Hag’s side were totally outclassed at Old Trafford, losing 3-0 to Spurs. Red Devi’s performance has been dismal since the beginning of the 2024/25 season.

Man United can replace Ten Hag by former Juventus boss Allegri

According to Caughtoffside, Man United’s board is considering a massive change to improve its poor performance, which puts pressure on Ten Hag.

The Dutch manager’s fate could be decided in upcoming games, as it’s believed that his days are numbered.

Manchester United have picked up as few as seven points from their opening six Premier League games and are already eight points behind leaders Liverpool. They also failed to win their Europa League debut against FC Twente, which ended 1-1.

Italian manager Allegri could be the right profile to take over, and sources from Caughtoffside stated that the former Juventus boss is the number one choice for Man United.

Is Allegri available?

Allegri has been without a team after Turin side Juventus fired him at the end of last season.

The 57-year-old tactician ended his second stint at Juventus in May 2024, as the Bianconeri fired him after his side’s win in the Coppa Italia final. This resulted in him losing his temper at the end of a season full of tension.

Allegri has been a serial winner throughout his career, which includes six Serie A titles with Milan and Juventus, three Italian Supercups, and five Coppa Italia trophies; he would be reportedly considered an ideal profile to take over at Old Trafford in an attempt to restore Manchester United’s winning tradition.

What’s next for Man United and Ten Hag

The Red Devils’ latest 3-0 home defeat against Tottenham cast further doubts on ten Hag, and as much as his position is still considered safe at the moment, the club is exploring alternative options in case results don’t improve soon.
