Barcelona is interested in Davies, but Madrid is also curious.
Davies is a hot catch for any club at this time. The Canadian defender has impressive speed and is strongly attacking-minded.
The current Bayern star’s contract has only one season left, which means he will be a free agent after this season.
Both Madrid and Barca are in contact with Davies’ entourage. According to German outlet Bild, Davies requests a €15m signing bonus and a four-year contract worth € 10 m a season, with talks continuing with Real and Barca.
Barcelona has a slight advantage over Madrid in signing Davies
Barcelona held meetings with people close to Alphonso Davies to understand his situation as Hansi Flick still has an extraordinary relationship with the player.
Barcelona’s pursuit of Alphonso Davies has become a key talking point following a recent report by Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist mentions that after the January transfer window this year, Barcelona met with people close to Davies, hinting at their interest in securing the Canadian’s services.
However, despite the initial discussions, substantial progress has not been made in bringing him to Camp Nou.
This news came when Davies’ contract negotiations with Bayern Munich were stalling. The relationship between the club and the player appears to be deteriorating, and there is little optimism for a resolution.
Current reports suggest that there is only a slim chance—around 10%—of a contract renewal being agreed upon. If things remain as they are, it seems increasingly likely that Davies will leave Bayern on a free transfer.
Davies was against Barcelona during the Champions League clash
During the Barcelona-Bayern Munich match, Davies faced Barcelona’s young star, Lamine Yamal. Although he found it challenging to contain Yamal, Davies still managed to be one of Bayern’s standout players.
The fullback was the only Bayern player who addressed the fans on social media after the loss to Barcelona, sharing a clear and candid message about the defeat: “For a club like Bayern, that performance was not good enough. We will regroup and come back even stronger next match for you guys and us as a team! Mia San Mia”
Davis, among other Barcelona candidates in the Summer
Barcelona is seriously looking at the free agent market for the coming Summer. Other than Tah and Jonathan David, as reported in my previous tweet, they also monitor Reinildo.
Most of these players’ contracts expire at the end of the season, while some have just two summers before they expire.
While Real Madrid is also interested in the left-back, Barcelona hopes this personal connection with Flick will help tip the scales in their favor.
