Alexander-Arnold says it’s “an honour” to play for Liverpool

The 26-year-old’s contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season.

Liverpool are currently working on new deals for the defender, as well as Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Reports suggest that Real Madrid wants to acquire the talent of the England international once he becomes a free agent.

Amid the Madrid interest, the right-back assured that he still wants to play for Liverpool.

“It’s the same as what I felt when I was six and first pulled the shirt on – it means everything,” he said. “It’s a privilege, it’s an honour, I know how many people wish they were in my position, and I don’t take that for granted.

He added: “It’s something I worked really hard for, I embrace and I love it, and it’s something I enjoy doing.”

Liverpool mainstay

Alexander-Arnold joined the club at the age of six and earned his first team selection in 2016.

The right-back has played 231 Premier League games to date and was a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s side that won the league title in 2019-20.

In addition, he has also won the Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, and League Cup.

“It’s been over 300 [appearances] in first-team football. Most of them times have ended in good results, and some haven’t – but through the good and the bad I’ve loved putting the shirt on,” Alexander-Arnold said.
