2024 KOREA MASTERS DAY 1 SAW KIRAN OUTLAST NGUYEN IN 57 MINUTES
The 2024 Korea Masters’ Day 1 of action saw Kiran outlast Nguyen, 15-21, 21-12, 21-15, in a match that lasted 57 minutes.
Furthermore, the Indian shuttler overcame an opening set letdown with a strong performance in the middle set to force a decider.
Moreover, George opened the third set with an 11-5 score.
That was enough to prevent Nguyen from returning to the match.
It was a rewarding victory for George, who is the only Indian shuttler to compete in the tournament.
Ayush Shetty was supposed to join George in the field before he withdrew at the last minute.
Additionally, Priyanshu Rajawat and Sameer Verma had earlier decided to skip the event.
AARON, WOOI YIK OPENS CAMPAIGN BY BEATING CHINESE TAIPEI DUO
Moreover, Aaron and Wooi Yik opened their campaign by their Chinese Taipei counterparts at Iksan City.
Furthermore, the Malaysian doubles tandem pulled off a 12-21, 21-18, 21-17 decision over world No.189 Chiang Chien Wei and Wei Chun Wei.
Aaron and Wooi Yik struggled to a slow start, as Chiang and Wei coasted to a nine-point victory in the opening set.
However, the Malaysian duo bounced back by edging their rivals in the middle set before attacking in the decider.
The win enabled Aaron and Wooi Yik to remain in contention to qualify for the World Tour Finals in Hangzhou, China, from December 11 to 15.
TWO MALAYSIAN PAIRS OUSTED
Furthermore, two more Malaysian pairs were ousted by their respective opponents on Day 1.
Moreover, Choong Hon Jian and Haikal Nazri lost to Chinese Taipei’s Lu Chen Po and Li Wei, 21-11, 10-21, 21-17.
Choong and Haikal took the middle set after an opening set loss to force a decider but fell short.
Goh V Shem and Boon Xin Yuan also followed Choong and Haikal on the sidelines.
They absorbed a 17-21, 22-20, 21-11 setback against Na Sung Seung and Shin Tae Yang from the host country.
