Van der Vaart shared Ronaldo locker room while at Los Blancos
Van der Vaart, who played alongside Ronaldo during his early days at Real, praised the Portuguese superstar’s commitment to his craft but didn’t hesitate to point out his self-centered mentality on the pitch.
“I always say this as a joke, but Ronaldo is the only teammate whose penis I never saw,” Van der Vaart quipped, referring to Ronaldo’s intense focus.
“He was always the first to arrive at training and the last to leave. His body? Wow. A machine. For him, the gym, diet, and rest were more important than intense training.”
During his legendary stint at Real Madrid from 2009 to 2018, Cristiano Ronaldo scored an astounding 450 goals and provided 131 assists in 438 appearances and set a unmatched bar for any player who inherits his number 7. Meanwhile, Van der Vaart left Los Blancos in 2010 to join Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
While his achievements with the club are unquestionable, former teammate Rafael van der Vaart recently shared an intriguing perspective on Ronaldo’s personality and work ethic during their time together at the Spanish giants.
Van der Vaart also highlighted Ronaldo’s relentless desire to score:
“He was incredibly selfish. If we won 6–0 and he didn’t score, he wasn’t happy. But if he scored two goals and we lost the game, everything was fine with him. It wasn’t problematic behavior; he just wanted his goals.”
