ESPORTS WORLD CUP TO BRING IN ONLINE CHESS FOR NEW AUDIENCES

Expect the Esports World Cup 2025 to bring in online chess for its new audiences in Riyadh.

Furthermore, the Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) and Chess.com will join forces in a sport that has already generated an estimated 600 million players worldwide.

Moreover, online chess is expected to lure an expanded global audience through the 2025 EWC.

Additionally, the 2025 EWC is known as the world’s biggest esports and gaming festival.

Online chess will be backed by Chess.com.

Chess.com is a leading chess website that features nearly 200 million members.

The Champions Chess Tour (CCT), a fast Chess.com tournament circuit, will be the main path for players who wish to qualify for the 2025 EWC.

GM CARLSEN TAPPED AS 2025 EWC AS GLOBAL AMBASSADOR

Moreover, chess Grandmaster (GM) Magnus Carlsen has been tapped as the 2025 EWC’s global ambassador.

Furthermore, the 34-year-old Norwegian five-time world champion will lend prestige to the games to a global audience.

Additionally, Carlsen is expect to connect traditional chess to the esports community.

“I’m thrilled to see chess join some of the biggest names in the world at the Esports World Cup,” Carlsen said.

“This partnership is an incredible opportunity to grow the game by introducing chess to new audiences and inspiring the next generation of players,” he added.

EWCF EXECUTIVE LAUDS HOW CHESS EVOLVES FROM ‘BOARDS TO SCREENS’

Furthermore, an EWCF executive lauds how chess has evolved from playing it to “boards to screens.”

Moreover, EWCF chief executive officer Ralf Reichert welcomed chess as an “exciting” moment.

“Bringing chess, a game that has been played for 1,500 years, to the Esports World Cup is a truly exciting moment,” Reichert said.

“It’s the perfect example of how games evolve: from boards to screens, the core competition stays the same,” he added.

Meanwhile, the top 12 players from the CCT will be invited to play in the 2025 EWC Chess Tournament.

The tournament will take place between July 31 and August 3.
