The tragedy unfolded as Edson performed the “Cristo” move, a well-known technique for goalkeepers to block shots. Despite desperate efforts to save him, Edson sadly passed away on January 5 at Maués Hospital. Reaching medical help was challenging, involving an 11-hour journey through rural roads.
