Tough loss in the Carabao Cup
The Gunners suffered a 2-0 defeat at St James’ Park on Wednesday.
Alexander Isak’s shot hit the post in the 19th minute, but Jacob Murphy slotted home the rebound.
The Swedish international turned Arsenal’s center-back William Saliba with a clever pass to Anthony Gordon, then fired a powerful shot that struck David Raya’s post.

Overall, Arsenal exited the quarterfinals with a 4-0 aggregate loss.
With the win, Newcastle advances to Wembley for the Carabao Cup final against either Liverpool or Tottenham on March 16.
Arsenal must “recharge”
Before their 4-0 aggregate loss, Arsenal had recently delivered a statement 5-1 win over Manchester City in the Premier League.
Arteta’s side now has 10 days until their next game and will fly to Dubai on Thursday after a grueling schedule of 12 games in 41 days.
“We need to swallow this one, it is a tough one,” Arteta said.

He added: “We had a lot of expectations. We knew the difficulty of the task because of the result we brought from London. but there is nothing we can do right now.”
“What we could do was on the pitch a few minutes ago, now we have to look forward. First of all, I think this is going to be a painful one. While we are in Dubai, recharge and go again because we still have a lot to play [for].”
