Vinicius Jr branded ‘problem’ after beef with Modric

In the dying minutes of the match, Modric asked Vinicius to track back and help defend. But the freshly crowned FIFA The Best 2024 winner wasn’t having it—he shot Modric a glare and even waved his hands in clear discontent.

After the game, coach Carlo Ancelotti backed Modric, stating flatly that “Modric is always right” and showing his full support for the veteran.

This is unacceptable behaviour from Vinicius & this attitude needs to be fixed immediately.

Pro-Real Madrid outlet Marca called Vinicius Jr a ‘problem’ after stir with Modric

A prominent journalist from Marca, Raul Verela, called Vinicius a “real headache” for Real Madrid. Raul wrote that the Brazilian number 7 was just “laughing on the field.” He questioned whether it was due to the missing out on 2024 Ballon D’Or, the weight of winning The Best award, or maybe because Vinicius chose to stay at Real Madrid, having ignored all the offers from Saudi Arabia and the arrival of Kylian Mbappe. The bottom line is, Vinicius just isn’t the same player he used to be.

Many wonder if this clash between Modric and Vinicius is a sign of deeper internal problems at Real Madrid—especially when the club is already struggling with a string of injuries and a shaky defense, while Vinicius seems to be losing his spark. Despite scoring 16 goals across all competitions, the former Flamengo star doesn’t show the same passion on the pitch.

Some even suggest that the arrival of superstar Kylian Mbappe might be making Vinicius worry about losing his status as a key player. Meanwhile, die-hard fans are upset that a 24-year-old would dare to “talk back” to the revered Modric, a legend who has been a hero at Real Madrid for the past 12 years.

And right after the final whistle, Vinicius headed straight to the locker room, skipping any celebration with his teammates. It’s clear he wasn’t too happy with that public reprimand.
