BUMRAH OUT OF INDIA’S CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2025 LINEUP AMID SPECULATIONS

Bumrah is out of India’s Champions Trophy 2025 lineup amid speculations that he will still be included at the last minute.

Furthermore, the 31-year-old bowler was sidelined by a back injury and has not played since last month.

Moreover, Bumrah underwent a five-week offloading period and rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to get himself in shape.

Strength and conditioning trainer Rajnikanth Sivagnanam confirmed the bowler completed his rehab already.

However, selectors didn’t put a risk on Bumrah’s fitness for the competition in Pakistan and Dubai.

NCA HEAD ‘LEFT THE BALL’ TO SELECTOR’S DECISION ON JASPRIT: BCCI SOURCE

An NCA head, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) source said, “left the ball” to a selector’s decision on Bumrah.

Morerover, NCA head Nitin Patel affirmed that Bumrah already completed his rehab.

Furthermore, chief selector Ajir Agarkar was told by Patel to make the call.

“Nitin left the ball in Ajit’s (chief selector Agarkar) court and hence no one would want to stick their necks out and take the risk of putting an unfit player in squad,” the BCCI source said.

“If medical team doesn’t green-light fully, how can the selection committee take that risk,” he added.

AGARKAR, GAMBHIR, SHARMA MEET BEFORE MAKING FINAL DECISION; RANA IN

Agarkar met with India coach Gautam Gambhir and team captain Rohit Sharma oin Ahmedabad before they made the decision.

Furthermore, it was at this moment where they decided to include Harsit Rana as Bumrah’s replacement.

Moreover, concerns were raised as to whether Bumrah is is fit for bowling during a match, not his physical health.

“That was Chetan Sharma’s committee and so Agarkar didn’t want to take a chance,” a BCCI official said.

“The stakes are too high and it would have been a complete embarrassment had Bumrah broken down in a match,” he added.
