LAKERS VS HORNETS SERVES AS LONE NBA MATCHUP AFTER RESET DUE TO WILDFIRES

The Lakers vs Hornets game served as the lone NBA matchup for the day as most of the matches are set on Thursday.

Furthermore, the wildfires that razed the Palisades in California prompted the league to reschedule Charlotte’s visit to Los Angeles.

Moreover, the game served as a quick return to the court for James after he skipped the All-Star Game (ASG) last week.

The 40-year-old veteran missed his first ASG after being playing for 20-straight years.

James was dealing with a sore left foot and ankle and was listed as doubtful hours before tipoff.

LUKA RAMPS UP PLAYING TIME AFTER GETTNG MORE REST DURING ALL STAR BREAK

Doncic ramped up his playing time after he got more rest during the All-Star break.

Moreover, the 25-year-old Slovenian superstar was on a minutes restriction in his first two games for the Lakers.

Furthermore, Doncic came to Los Angeles via a blockbuster trade that had Anthony Davis going to Dallas on February 2.

“He (Doncic) will be fine. That extra five, six days of All-Star break ws good for him,” Lakers coach JJ Reddick said.

“His minutes will be up, and I don’t think that there’s going to be any sort of restrictions going forward,” he added.

Doncic was recovering from a strained left calf he sustained on Christmas last year while playing for Dallas prior to the trade.

LAKERS BRACE FOR THREE GAMES IN FOUR DAYS IN THREE CITIES

The Lakers (32-20) brace for three games in three cities in four days.

This was a result of playing a day earlier after the All-Star break.

Furthermore, the Lakers visit portland on Thursday before heading to Denver on Saturda.

Moreover, the Hornets (13-39) are also playing with the returning Mark Williams for the first time since the break.

Williams was supposed to be traded by Charlotte to Los Angeles for Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish and other assets before the trade deadline.

However, the trade was rescinded after Williams failed to pass a physical, according to the Lakers.

Knecht has also returned to the court for the Lakers in an off-the-bench role Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Hornets edged the Lakers, 100-97, behind 29 points from Miles Bridges and 27 from LaMelo Ball.

James finished with 26 points, 11 assists, and seven rebounds in 38 minutes but he missed two potential game-tying three-pointers in the final seconds.

Doncic only had 14 points but had 11 boards, and eight dimes in 33 minutes for the Lakers.
