NAKATANI WELCOMES MEGA-FIGHT AGAINST INOUE AFTER RETAINING WBC BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE

Nakatani welcomes a possible mega-fight against Inoue after he retained his World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight title.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old rising Japanese star proved he was ready for the big time by flooring Cuellar twice in the third round in Tokyo.

Moreover, Nakatani (30-0, 23 KOs) wants to unify all bantamweight titles first before taking a shot at compatriot Inoue (29-0, 26 KOs).

“I want to establish myself as a great bantamweight and possibly move up in weight but it will be a year of challenges for me,” Nakatani said after Monday’s fight.

“I’m not setting any timeframe (for the Inoue fight); next year, maybe further on,” he added.

NISHIDA’S IBF TITLE AT STAKE FOR NEXT UNIFICATION BOUT FOR JUNTO

Meanwhile, Ryosuke Nishida’s International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight belt may be at stake as Nakatani’s next possible fight.

Moreover, Nishida watched before joining Nakatani in the right after the fight before they agreed to a unification fight.

Furthermore, Nakatani eyes to claim all four world bantamweight belts before moving to super bantamweight and possibly face Inoue.

“I really don’t know (possible Inoue fight). But it’s something I’m looking forward to,” Nakatani said.

“It’ll be a big fight, not just in Japan, but around the world,” he added.

INOUE TO TAKE ON WBC MANDATORY CHALLENGER PICASSO IN VEGAS FIRST

Inoue is lined up to take on WBC mandatory challenger Alan Picasso of Mexico in Las Vegas in June.

Furthermore, the undisputed super bantamweight champion and Nakatani are both promoted by Top Rank chief executive officer Bob Arum.

Moreover, Arum is looking at a late 2025 or a 2026 schedule for an Inoue-Nakatani showdown in Japan.

“He (Inoue) is rated as one of the top pound-for-pound fighters and along with that I have a lot of respect for him,” Nakatani said of the boxer also known as “Monster.”

“And I’m influenced by him. i want to improve my rankings in the pound-for-pound as well,” he added.
