BANGLADESH’S CHAMPIONS TROPHY EXIT CAME AS VETERANS ‘JUST DON’T TURN UP’

Bangladesh’s Champions Trophy exit, Wasim Jaffer said, was caused by its veterans “just don’t turn up.”

Furthermore, the ex-India batter cited Bangladesh’s -228 all out and 236 for 9 were its sub-totals in their last two matches.

Moreover, Jaffer slammed the performances of Mahmdullah and Mushfiqur Rahim after Bangladesh absorbed a five-wicket loss to New Zealand on Tuesday.

“We’ve only seen probably Shakib (Al Hasan) with that 2019 (ODI) World Cup where he was a standout player,” Jaffer told ESPNcricinfo.

“But I don’t know if it’s the pressure that gets to them or they put too much pressure on themselves, they just don’t turn up,” he added.

JAFFER SLAMS BANGLADESH’S ‘DISAPPOINTING’ SHOT SELECTION VS BLACK CAPS

Jaffer slammed Bangladesh’s “disappointing” shot selection that were in display against the Black Caps.

Moreover, the former India international cricketer criticized Mahmudullah for taking a “wild shot” during their recent match.

Furthermore, Jaffer noted that Bangladesh was doomed by “50 to 60 runs short” as they struggled at the surface in Rawalpindi.

“Even the shot selection we’ve seen today was disappointing. Mushfiq (Mushfiqur) playing that shot, Mahmudullah playing that wild shot,” the former batter said.

“And this is a must-win game. You want them to step up in these kinds of games and make themselves count,” he added.

FORMER NEW ZEALAND FAST BOWLER CITES BANGLADESH’S BATTING PROBLEMS

Meanwhile, a former New Zealand fast bowler cited Bangladesh’s batting issue as a problem.

Furthermore, Shane Bond also noted that “there is a lot to workj with” Bangladeh’s bowling attack.

Moreover, he found consolation that Bangladesh has Mustrafizur Rahman, whom New Zealand nor England doesn’t have.

“They (Bangladesh) have got the heat, they have got the left-armer (Mustafizur Rahman), which New Zealand and a team like England doesn’t have,” Bond said.

“There is a lot to work with with their bowling attack. I think their batting in the end was the problem,” he added.
