ALCARAZ SEES ‘REALLY OPEN’ DRAW AT INDIAN WELLS, WON’T CHANGE APPROACH

Alcaraz sees a “really open” draw at Indian Wells this year, as he won’t change his approach in his search for another title.

Furthermore, the Spanish 21-year-old is aware of the absence of Sinner, the world No.1 who is serving his three-month ban.

Moreover, Alcaraz is convinced he has to overcome a tough field in California.

“Jannik’s not playing, but there are a lot of the best players in the world [who] are playing here,” the Spaniard said at a news conference on Tuesday.

“I think the draw is really open, and a lot of players (are) playing great tennis,” he added.

Meanwhile, Alcaraz is coming off a nomination for the 2025 Laureus World Sports Awards for Sportsman of the Year.

SPANIARD EYES TO JOIN DJOKOVIC, FEDERER WITH MULTPLE INDIAN WELLS TITLES

The Spaniard tries to join Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer as the only players with three straight Indian Wells titles.

Moreover, Alcaraz currently has No.2 Alexander Zverev of Germany as the biggest obstacle to add to his two titles in California.

Furthermore, the Spanish star clarified he’s focused on having fun and not to grab a place in history.

“For me, coming here to approach the tournament, it doesn’t change at all. I’m just focused on my things, on myself, and I try to play good tennis here,” Alcaraz said.

“I will try not to think about it. I will try just to enjoy it,” he added.

HALYS, QUALIFIER AWAITS SPANISH STAR AFTER FIRST ROUND BYE

Alcaraz will get a first-round bye before he begins his Indian Wells campaign.

Furthermore, he is scheduled to play either Quentin Halys or a qualifier in the second round.

Moreover, Alcaraz assured he’s looking forward to return to the California desert after a year.

“Because this tournament – every time that I come here, I enjoy so much … practicing, playing,” the Spaniard said.

“Everything for me here is so easy. So all I’m thinking is to enjoy this tournament. I’m waiting the whole year just to come back here,” he added.
