ICC THANKS PCB BUT IGNORES SUMAIR’S NON-INVOLVEMENT IN FINALS TROPHY PRESENTATION

The ICC thanks the PCB but it ignored the issue.

This was regarding the absence of a Pakistan sports official from the finals trophy presentsattion.

Furthermore, the ICC (International Cricket Board) paid gratitude to the PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) for its successful hosting of the tournament from February 19 to March 9.

Moreover, ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice noted the “huge importance” of the event to the PCB.

“We would like to thank and congratulate the Pakistan Cricket Board for successfully hosting the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025,” Allardice said in a statement.

“As this was the first global multi-team cricket event played in the country since 1996, this event was of huge significance for the PCB,” he added.

NO MENTION OF EXPLANATION OF SUMAIR’S ABSENCE IN POST-FINALS CEREMONY

However, the ICC didn’t mention the row involving the absence of a PCB official from the post-finals ceremony.

Moreover, Champions Trophy tournament director and PCB representative Sumair Ahmed was in Dubai to attend the India vs New Zealand final on Sunday.

Furthermore, ICC chair Jay Shah, formerly an official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) led four officials in the presentation ceremony onstage.

However, Sumair was not invited to join the four officials.

Instead, Allardice thanked the Emirates Cricket Board.

He lauded the board for “staging five of the matches in Dubai and continuing to provide great support to the ICC in staging its major men’s and women’s events.”

EX-CRICKETER SLAMS PCB, SAYS PAKISTAN ‘DOESN’T BELONG’ IN FINALS PRESENTATION

Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal slammed the PCB for the current state of cricket in the country.

Furthermore, the 43-year-old retired wicketkeeper-batsman cited the ICC “showing us the door” after it refused to include Sumair as PCB’s representative to the trophy ceremony.

Moreover, he urged the PCB to focus instead on improving Pakistan’s standing in cricket.

“The ICC showed us the mirror. The tournament’s director (Sumair) was there. He was available, and why wasn’t he in the ceremony? It is because we don’t deserve to be there,” Kamran said on his YouTube channel.

“No one discussed how Pakistan hosted the tournament. If we play such cricket, we will be treated like this. If you play for yourself, there will be no respect,” he added.
