SHI CLAIMS ALL ENGLAND OPEN 2025 TITLE AFTER BEATING LEE
Shi claims the All England Open 2025 men’s title after beating Lee Chia-hao of Chinese Taipei, 21-17, 21-19.
Furthermore, the 29-year-old Chinese world No.1 needed only 51 minutes to outclass Lee.
Moreover, Shi did not disappoint a group of flag-waving Chinese fans at the Arena Birmingham by denying Lee a chance for a decider.
“Thak you, I love you guys,” the Chinese superstar shuttler said in English.
“It’s been seven years. A lot has happened during these seven years, ups and downs. I’ve been to a few semi-finals and didn’t make it in the end,” he added.
The top seed reached the final after humbling Li Shifeng, 21-9, 20-22, 21-19, in an all-Chinese semifinal.
Lee earned a shot at Shi after he defeated Frenchman Alex Lanier, 19-21, 21-14, 21-17.
AN TOPS WANG TO RULE WOMEN’S CROWN
An needed three sets to outlast Wang, 13-21, 21-18, 21-18, to rule the women’s crown.
Moreover, the 23-year-old South Korean world No.1 overcame an opening set loss with solid performances in the last two sets.
Furthermore, An needed all of 95 minutes to rally and overwhelm the No.2 seeded Wang when it mattered the most.
The South Korean top seed prevented a Chinese double as Wang attempted to match Shi’s men;’s title run to no avail.
An fell through her knees in celebration after Wang committed a third error that led to the championship point.
“I had all sorts of emotions going through my mind during the second game. The thought that was concrete in my mind was not giving up,” An said.
“I won’t even try to describe how hard today’s match was. The match didn’t go as I’d planned, which made me extra tired,” she added.
