LAKSHYA PULLS OUT; SRIKANTH PROMOTED TO MAIN DRAW VS PRANNOY

Lakshya pulled out of the Super 300 event, enabling Srikanth to be promoted to the main draw.

Furthermore, the 23-year-old world No.15 did not provided a reason for his withdrawal to organizers.

Moreover, Srikanth has since took Lakshya’s place and will now face HS Prannoy in an all-Indian first-round matchup.

He would be joined in the sidelines by Malaysia’s Lee Zii Hia and Lee Cheuk Yiu, among other notable men’s singles shuttlers.

HOH EARNS SPOT, ENSURES MALAYSIA REPRESENTATION AFTER ZII JIA WITHDRAWAL

Hoh earned a spot in the main draw after emerging in the qualifiers on Monday.

Moreover, the 20-year-old world No.53, unlike Srikanth, had to earn his slot after winning twice.

Furthermore, Hoh first beat France’s Valentin Singer, 21-17, 21-19 in his open qualifier.

He would later defeat India’s K. Sathish Kumar 21-19, 19-21, 21-16, to earn his place in the main draw in Basel.

Hoh thus takes the place of Zii Jia as Malaysia’s top shuttler in the tournament.

He will open his campaign against wolrd No.25 Yushi Tanaka of Japan.

LAST-MINUTE WITHDRAWALS PREVENT EARLY SINDHU-BANSOD CLASH IN WOMEN’S SINGLES

Meanwhile, last-minute withdrawals also marred the women’s singles division, which provided a relief for Team India.

Furthermore, Team India was already bracing for PV Sindhu to face Malvijka Bansod in an opening-round matchup.

Moreover, the pullouts of some top women’s shuttlers altered the main draw.

Sindhu will now open her campaign against Denmark’s Jule Jacobsen, while Bansod will take on Canada’s Michelle Li.
