GANGULY URGES INDIA BATTERS TO STEP UP DESPITE COMING OFF CHAMPIONS TROPHY 2025 TITLE

Ganguly urged India batters to step up despite the team is coming off a CT2025 title conquest when it beat New Zealand in the final.

Furthermore, the 52-year-old former Indian team captain cited several batters from India could not average over 40 away from home.

Moreover, the current commentator called out Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant to step up in red ball cricket as India heads for more Test series soon.

“My only worry is that, other than Virat (Kohli) and Yashasvi (Jaiswal), not many average more than 40 away from home,” Ganguly said on the RevSports Trailblazers 3.0 Conclave.

“If you want to be a good Test team, three or four of your top six batters must be averaging close to 50 in Test matches,” he added.

TEAM INDIA SHOULD BRACE FOR ENGLAND TOUR FOR TEST SERIES IN JUNE

Team India is scheduled to tour England for its five-match Test series in June, which should pose as a challenge to its batters to deliver away from home.

Moreover, Ganguly reminded fans that India is coming off a 0-3 whitewash against New Zealand at home and a 1-3 loss at Australia in its recent Test series.

Furthermore, the former skipper shared his thoughts on how Team India can address the situation through a process they don’t need to rush to perfect it.

“It is possible to transform our red-ball fortunes in England. You have to bat well,” Ganguly said.

“You do not win Tests by scoring 200, 250, or 180. The reason they won in Perth was because they got 400 on the board,” he added.

KOHLI ‘BEST IN THE BUSINESS’ BUT INDIA CAN’T RELY ON HIM ALL THE TIME: COMMENTATOR

The commentator commended veteran Virat Kohli for his exploits in CT2025, soemthing India should not depend on forever.

Furthermore, Ganguly is confident the 36-year-old top order superstar batter won’t fail in five Test matches in England.

Moreover, the former captain pointed out Yashavi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul as well to “step up.”

“(Rishabh) Pant has got to bite the bullet and play the swinging ball. You cannot keep swinging all the time and expect to score runs in Test cricket,” Ganguly said.

They have the talent. Yashavi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, KL Rahulm, Shubman Gill, they need to step up,” he added.
