DAVIS RETURNS ON MINUTES LIMIT, HELPS INJURY-HIT MAVS BEAT NETS

Davis returned at the right time for the injury-hit Mavs, as he helped Dallas beat Brooklyn, 120-101.

Furthermore, the All-Star forward had 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists on 6-of=-9 shooting in 27 minutes in his return to the starting lineup.

Moreover, that was enough for Dallas, which got 22 points from reserve Najio Marshall and 16 from PJ Washington.

Mavs coach Jason Kidd confirmed the limits restriction for Davis, who has been out since February 8 with an adductor strain.

“We’d like to have a healthy, positive experience on the minute restriction he’ll be on,” the coach said.

KIDD LAUDS DAVIS’ WORK FOR COMING BACK AMID SHUT DOWN RUMORS

Kidd lauded Davis for his hard work in coming back from an injury.

Moreover, the coach is aware of calls from fans and rumors that Dallas (35-37) could shut down its top star after the Luka Doncic trade in February.

Furthermore, sources also learned about conversations between Davis and the Mavericks about possibly shutting him down.

“I think you’ve got to commend him for working to get back. This is his job, so he feels responsible to get back to work and just understanding that first part is just who he is,” Kidd said.

“And the second part we can always talk about the future, so that’s the balance we have to look at, and tonight’s the start of the rest of the season,” he added.

MAVS STILL SEEKS PLAY-IN SLOT, SHOT OF MAKING PLAYOFFS WITH DAVIS IN ACTION

Davis’ return means the Mavs are still battling for a play-in spot they’re disputing with the Sacramento Kings (35-35) and the Phoenix Suns (34-37).

Furthermore, Davis played only one game since the trade, when he had 26 points, 17 rebounds, and seven assists before he went down with the injury,.

Moreover, Kidd still expects Davis to work harder along the rest of his teammates to give the Mavs a chance beyond the regular season.

“But, again, he gets paid to play. His character for working to get back with 12 games left just shows how much he cares about what he wants to do, and that’s to help his team win,” the coach said.

Brandon Williams scored 15 points, Kai Jones had 13 points, while Max Christie added 10 for the Mavericks.

Nic Claxton finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Cam Johnson had 17 points for the Nets (23-49).
