Tatum sustains left ankle sprain

Tatum took a hard foul and suffered an injury in the process.

The six-time All-Star drained a contested three-pointer while drawing a foul from Kings star center Domantas Sabonis, who received a Flagrant 1.

As Tatum landed, his right foot came down on Sabonis’ foot, causing him to drop to the floor immediately.

The Celtics’ medical staff examined him as he remained down for several moments.

The staff helped Tatum to the bench, but he later returned to the court and made one of two free throws, extending Boston’s lead to 79-68 with 3:35 left in the third quarter.

Tatum scored 25 points before leaving the court.

Tatum is ‘OK’

Meanwhile, Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla is optimistic that the star forward won’t be out long.

“He seems to be doing OK,” Mazzulla said.

“I didn’t see the play, but they made the right call. Fortunate that he was able to shoot the free throws. [He’s] taking care of it right now.”

“I literally just asked him how he was doing, and he said, ‘OK.'”

“He’ll do anything and everything to make sure he gets better.”
