PAOLINI FIRST ITALIAN TO REACH MIAMI OPEN SEMIFINALS AFTER BEATING LINETTE
Paolini is first to advance in the last four in South Florida after her 6-3, 6-2 victory over Magda Linette of Poland.
Furthermore, the 29-year-old sixth seed also became the first Italian women to reach this far in Miami.
Moreover, the last Italian woman who had a deep run in South Florida was Martina Trevisan, who reached the quarterfinals in 2023.
Paolini will next face world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus for a place in the final.
The other quarterfinals matches in the other bracket will pit No.4 seed Jesica Pegula of the US facing Britain’s Emma Raducanu.
No.2 Iga Swiatek of Poland will then face wild card Alexandra Eala of the Philippines.

SABALENKA OUSTS ZHENG, EARNS TITLE ‘BRAZILIAN DIVA’ IN MIAMI
Sabalenka ousted Qinwen Zheng of China, 6-2, 7-5, to earn a shot at Paolini.
Moreover, the 26-year-old Belarussian world No.1 talked more about a special tag Brazilians have given to her.
Furthermore, Sabalenka inherited a group of Brazilian fans rooting for Joao Fonseca.
The 18-year-old Brazilian was eliminated by Alex deMinaur in the third round.
Fans have tagged the Belarussian as the “Brazilian Diva,” something Sabalenka hopes to reciprocate with a title in South Florida.
“So, I’m working really hard to be successful in Miami and one day, I’ll make it happen (winning in Miami),” she said.
DJOKOVIC OUSTS MUSETTI TO ADVANCE TO LAST 8
Djokovic continued his amazing run by ousting Italy’s Musetti, 6-2, 6-2, to advance to the last eight.
Furthermore, the 37-year-old Serbian world No.7 needed only an hour and 22 minutes to get the job done.
Moreover, the win kept Djokovic’s hopes alive of bagging that elusive 100th ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) Tour-level title.
“I think my level is really good, I’m very happy,” the Serbian superstar told Sky Sports Tennis.
“This was the best match of the tournament for me so far and what I like is to see me as I progress through the tournament raising the level of tennis and that’s what happening,” he added.
