BENAVIDEZ SAYS CANELO DUCKING HIM ‘SHOWS GOOD HOW I AM’ IN RING
Benavidez says Canelo still ducking him “shows good how I am” in the ring, thus giving him more motivation to strive for greatness.
Furthermore, the 28-year-old American expressed his disappointment that Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) chose to fight Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) in a projected mega-title fight in September.
Moreover, Benavidez described himself as the “most dangerous fighter” in the super middleweight division, whose titles Alvarez is holding.
“I feel like my name isn’t mentioned because I’m the most dangerous fighter out there for the least amount of money,” the son of a Mexican father told Mystic Zach.
“All these fighters, I feel they see everything as a business move. It wasn’t like that back then, but I feel this is the dynamic of boxing is changing,” he added.
‘MEXICAN MONSTER’ BELIEVES CANELO SHOULD FIGHT BOXERS IN HIS SAME DIVISION FIRST
The fighter also known as the “Mexican Monster” believes Canelo should’ve fought boxers in his same division first.
Moreover, Benavidez described Crawford as a “great fighter” but a “small guy” to take on a champion like Alvarez.
Furthermore, he is still surprised why Alvarez chose a fighter who went up two divisions to make their deal done.
“I’m going to say it’s going to be an easy fight for him (Alvarez) because Terence Crawford is a great fighter,” the American said.
“But I feel it would be better for the people if he fought somebody in his own weight class,” he added.
CANELO-BENAVIDEZ FIGHT WOULD’VE ‘GIVE THE FANS A LOT OF FIREWORKS, DAVID SAYS
Benavidez believes that a fight between him and Alvarez would’ve “give the fans a lot of fireworks.”
Furthermore, the “Mexican Monster” described a possible Alvarez-Benavidez bout ss “the best fight in boxing.”
Moreover, Benavidez remains confident that he will strive for greatness after coming off a unanimous decision victory over David Morrell on February 1 this year.
“Canelo, in my opinion, the best fight he could make is against me because it would be the best fight in boxing. We’d give the fans a lot of fireworks in that fight,” Benavidez said.
“If anything, it doesn’t derail me. It gives me more motivation because now I know that these people are ducking me for a reason,” he added.
