ALCARAZ AWAITS MEDICAL TEST RESULTS BEFORE COMMITTING FOR MADRID OPEN

Furthermore, the 21-year-old Spanish world No.3 sustained a right leg injury that needed treatment.
Moreover, he lost to Holger Rune at the Barcelona Open final on Sunday
Alcaraz is scheduled for his Madrid opener later this week as he awaits if he is cleared to play.
“I feel fine physically. I’ve had tests, and we’ll see what the results say,” the Spaniard said.
“I’m used to playing with discomfort, so let’s hope I can play and enjoy Madrid,” he added.

EALA WINS MADRID OPENER OVER TOMOVA, BRACES FOR SWIATEK REMATCH
Eala won her Madrid opener after her 6-3, 6-2 decision over Bulgaria’s Vitoriya Tomova.
Moreover, the 19-year-old world No.72 from the Philippines posted her second victory in Madrid, a WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) 1000-level tournament.
Furthermore, Eala defeated then No.41 Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine in the 2024 ain draw, as she tries to sustain her Miami Open run.
“My goals for this clay season, especially after Miami, are just to do better than last year, to improve my game on clay,” the teenager said.
“It’s a shorter stretch compared to hard court, but I want to feel myself getting better and keeping the level,” she added.
Eala thus earned a second-round matchup against world No.2 Iga Swiatek of Poland on Friday.

OSAKA OUSTED BY BRONZETTI IN OPENER
Osaka failed to join Eala into the next round after she absorbed a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 decision against Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti.
Furthermore, the Japanese world No.55 was playing her first match in almost a month.
Moreover, Osaka advanced to the fourth round of the Miami Open.
The inactivity after Miami had the former No.1 going unseeded in Madrid.
Bronzetti will next face No.5 seeded American Madison Keys in the second round.
