USMNT RAMPS UP PREPARATIONS WITH FRIENDLIES VS SOUTH KOREA, JAPAN
USMNT ramps up its preparations with scheduled friendlies ahead of for football’s top global event.
Furthermore, the Americans will first take on South Korea at the Nee York Red Bulls’ home stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, on September 6.
Moreover, the US Men’s National Team will then take on the field against Japan at the home of the Columbus Crew on September 9.
The Americans hope to go on a deeper run in their first World Cup under coach Mauricio Pochettino.
The world No.16 reached the Round of 16 in the 2010, 2014, and 2022 World Cups.
However, the USA failed to qualify in 2018.
JAPAN, SOUTH KOREA PERENNIAL WORLD CUP PARTICIPANTS FOR ASIA
Japan and South Korea have been perennial fixtures in past FIFA World Cups and the upcoming edition would be no different.
Moreover, Japan already officially qualified to the 2026 edition.
Furthermore, the Japanese placed between the top two in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) qualifying group in March
Japan’s No.14 FIFA ranking is the highest among Asian nations.
South Korea is currently leading its AFC qualifying group and is poised to join Japan in the World Cup.
The No.23-ranked South Koreans have not played against the USMNT since 2014.
The Americans last took on Japan in a 2022 World Cup tuneup.

POCHETTINO ALSO VALUES CONCACAF GOLD CUP AS WORTHY PREPARATION FOR WORLD CUP
Pochettino also valued the CONCACAF Gold Cup next month as a valuable preparation for the World Cup.
Furthermore, the USMNT is also scheduled to host Turkey at Rentschler Field in Connecticut on June 7.
Moreover, the Americans will then travel to Geodis Park in Nashville to host Switzerland on June 10.
“It’s important that we respect all of our opponents in the competition,” Pochettino told US soccer last month.
“It’s a good opportunity for us to test different players and see their character and continue to build and prepare the team for the World Cup,” he added.
