PAOLINI TO RISE IN WTA RANKINGS AFTER BEATING GAUFF FOR ITALIAN OPEN TITLE

Expect Paolini to rise in the upcoming WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) rankings after she beat Coco Gauff in Rome.

Furthermore, Paolini’s  6-4, 6-2 victory over Gauff was made in front of Italy President Sergio Mattarella.

Moreover, the 29-year-old world No.5 capped history as the first Italian woman to win the title in 40 years after Raffaella Reggi in 1985.

She rubbed off on an animated crowd throughout the match to put way her 21-year-old American world No.3.

“It doesn’t seem real to me. I came here as a kid to see this tournament, but winning it and holding up this trophy wasn’t even in my dreams,” Paolini said.

“The crowd has been incredible,” she added.

Additionally, Paolini combined with Sara Errani to win the women’s doubles title Sunday.

Furthermore, Gauff is already setting her sights at the French Open.

She reached the final in Roland Garros in 2022.

“It’s a bittersweet feeling. Unfortunately, I felt like I didn’t bring my best, which I knew I needed today,” Gauff said.

“Overall a lot to look forward to in Paris (French Open),” she added.

ALCARAZ DENIES ALL-ITALIAN WIN AFTER TAKING DOWN SINNER

xxx Carlos Alcaraz will later deny an all-Italian celebration in Rome after he defeated Jannik Sinner, 7-6(5), 6-1, in Sunday’s men’s singles final.

Furthermore, the 22-year-old Spanish world No.3 finally won a first title in Rome to add to the Monte Carlo trophy in his collection this year.

Moreover, Alcaraz thus snapped Sinner’s 26-match winning streak.

This dates back to October last year while leading their head-to-head series, 7-4.

“Just proud about myself, the way that I approached the match mentally,” Alcaraz said.

“Tactically think I did it pretty well from the first to the last point,” he added.
