2021-22 La Liga week 18 recap

Villarreal and Granada notched a pair of wins at La Liga to close out 2021.

Unai Emery’s squad had a big jump on the table, finishing the year on the top half. They took advantage of Real Sociedad going down to ten players, then defeated Alavés three days later to extend their winning run to three matches.

Gerard Moreno scored a brace in both fixtures to spearhead El Submarino Amarillo. He took part in every goal in their 3-1 victory against La Real, providing the assist to Samuel Chukwueze in the final play of the game.

In their other assignment, Boulaye Dia had a double along with the striker from Santa Perpètua in a 5-2 shelling of the Basque side. Yeremy provided the other goal.

Villarreal stretched their winning run to three matches. Alavés’, on the other hand, extended their string of unfortunate results to seven.

Meanwhile, Granada managed to leapfrog to 12th place with a pair of wins in their home pitch.

Jorge Molina completed a hat trick to down Mallorca, 4-1, on December 19. He also clutched the pivotal goal to stun Atlético Madrid, 2-1.
