2021-22 La Liga week 19 recap

Getafe managed to scalp a large head in Real Madrid, 1-0, to greet 2022 with a bang.

The hosts halted the 11-match unbeaten run of the league leaders. Enes Ünal clinched the lone goal.

This made them the hottest club right now at La Liga, as they are unbeaten in six league contests, along with Granada. The latter settled with a goalless draw against Elche.

Los Blancos’ loss meant that Sevilla inched closer to the top to the top of the table after a close 1-0 victory against Cádiz, courtesy of Lucas Ocampo’s strike at the 58th minute.

Meanwhile, Villarreal continued their winning ways, as they blanked bottom side Levante, 5-0.

Gerard Moreno had a brace yet again, resuming where he left off in December. Boulaye Dia, Pau Torres, and Manu Trigeros also put themselves on the scoresheet.

Levante are still looking for their first league win this season.

Finally, Rayo Vallecano saw themselves getting overtaken on the table by both Atlético Madrid and Barcelona. Rayo lost to Atleti courtesy of Ángel Correa’s double, while the Blaugrana won on the road against Mallorca, 1-0.
