3 Real Madrid youth players arrested over sexual video with minor

3 Real Madrid youth players have been arrested for allegedly distributing a sexual video that features a minor.

Sexism and macho behavior in Spanish soccer have hit the height lately, with the case of now-former Spanish football federation chief Luis Rubiales and now the case of Real Madrid players.

What happened

The arrested players come from the youth academy of Los Blancos. According to sources from Spain, those three were later released following a court decision.

In a statement released by Police, the case stems from a complaint filed by the mother of a 16-year-old girl in the Canary Islands regarding an alleged recording of sexual relations, the Police said. They added that while the girl maintained the relations were consensual, the recording took place in June without her consent and that she had recently become aware of it.

The arrest was made at the Real Madrid sports complex while a fourth player was being investigated.

One of those arrested is a reserve team player, and two play for the third team.

Real Madrid issued a statement that only four youth team players had been questioned by police “in connection with a complaint about an alleged release of a private video via WhatsApp” messaging system.

Real Madrid wishes to announce that it has learned that a Castilla player and three Real Madrid C players have made statements to the Civil Guard in relation to a complaint about the alleged broadcasting of a private video via WhatsApp.

According to El Confidencial newspaper, the main subject of the probe is a player of the third team, who allegedly recorded his sexual relationship with the 16-year-old victim.
