4 things we learned from Man Utd’s dramatic victory against West Ham

Man United beat West Ham at London Stadium, in a dramatic game with almost everything: a comeback, last minute goal, last minute penalty, and 3 goals.

Man United and West Ham brought a real show in the evening of 19th September to London’s audiences in Premier League’s 5th round.

Said Benrahma scored first for the host, but Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes again, shown the Portugese connection with an equalizer.

Then Jesse Lingard scored around only 1 minute before the official time of the game to complete the comeback for Red Devils. Mark Noble – the loyal warrior of The Hammers got the chance at 94th minute on the penalty spot, after Luke Shaw’s handball.

However, Noble missed and as a result, West Ham suffered from the very first defeat of the season.

Here are 4 things we learned from one of the best games of Matchday 5 of EPL 2021/22:

Cristiano Ronaldo conquered another stadium

The new signing shone again for Man United. Cristiano Ronaldo scored in his 3 consecutive games this season, in all competitions.

According to Opta Joe, the Portugese superstar now scored in 66th different stadium in Europe’s big five leagues, counting since his Man United’s debut in 2003/04. Any star got close to Ronaldo’s record is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who had scored in 64 different stadiums.

Jesse Lingard redeemed himself

Lingard did what it has to be done in order to redeem himself from the mistake that cost Man United a defeat against Young Boys in Champions League earlier this week. Of course, he did not celebrate, as last season, he was a number star for West Ham on loan.

The English player replaced Paul Pogba at 73′ and scored at 89′ to complete the comeback for Man United. Fair to say, it’s a beautiful goal: the move, the curl, all were perfectly done by Lingard.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer risked his trust again at Lingard, but this time, Lingard did not fail him. And the Manchester’s club fans now could talk about Lingard’s goal, no longer his assist for Young Boys.

David Moyes’ failed against his own club, again

David Moyes never beat Man United since 2014, the year when he got sacked by the club.

Since then, West Ham United manager has failed to win any of his seven matches against the Red Devils in all competitions (D2 L5). Including this time, he already lost to Man United six times.

Moyes learned nothing from England after Euro 2020’s final

Eyebrows raised when Mark Noble was brought in in the 95th minute of the game, only to take the ultimate penalty.

Of course, Moyes got every reason to put his faith in the 34-year-old midfielder, as he never missed any of his 10 penalties since 2016.

But he did not play a single minute of the game, not until he walked in and took the penalty and…missed. Actually, it was saved by David de Gea, who was unable to save any penalty he face from 2014, till today.

Moyes must have watched Marcus Rashford, and then Jadon Sancho missed the similar penalties against Italy in Euro 2020’s final, just 2 months ago. But why he did not learn a thing, or two about it.

Rashford, just like Noble, was brought in, only to take the shoot-out of the final, which he missed. Because why not?? He did not have any minute or any touch before Gareth Southgate decided that he would take one of the very last penalty.

Noble and Rashford, two guys, two penalties, same outcomes. Moyes only had himself to blame for his own decision.
