Silva’s decision was surprising since the midfielder still has so much to give despite his age; however, the knee injury forced him to call time on his decorated career.

He started at Valencia, and his last club was Real Sociedad, who will compete in the Champions League next season, but Silva’s peak of his career would always be with Man City.

He left the Blues in 2020 after ten glorious years with the club, winning four Premier League titles. He contributed much more than just goals, and here are some of Silva’s finest moments in City Blue.

First Goal vs Blackpool

When a career ends, people think about how it started.

He was great at Valencia, but when he came to England, there were doubts and doubts only. They said Silva would struggle on the cold, foggy days of the Premier League, but he defied them all and scored a stunning debut first goal to mark his presence.

On 17th October 2010, City traveled to the coast and a match with Premier League new boys Blackpool, eventually producing a moment of magic to seal the tight victory.

A free kick to City saw a pass to Silva; the rest is history. Beating two men, one twice, Silva curled a delightful shot into the far corner as the crowd went wild.

The perfect delivery for Kompany

Silva’s most crucial pass for City was simple yet highly effective: An out-swinging corner for Kompany against Manchester United.

City’s then coach Roberto Mancini had been working with a data analyst who advised him that the most effective way of taking corners was out-swingers rather than in-swingers. Silva put the theory into practice with an inviting cross into the six-yard box, and Kompany used his height and strength to beat Chris Smalling to the ball and score the game’s only goal.

The 1-0 win took City top of the Premier League on goal difference with two games to go, having trailed United by eight points only four games earlier.

The Other 3-2 Against QPR

The Citizens fans might only remember Aguero’s moment in their historic victory against QPR. But it was Silva who set up on a cold night in London.

With the score at 1-1, Silva took Dzeko’s pass magnificently, his first touch creating space before lashing the ball past Paddy Kenny in the QPR goal.

That Pass VS United

Football fans enjoy a great pass, sometimes even more than the goal. The game was the Manchester Derby, and City was dominant against their rivals.

The Spaniard had already scored City’s fifth goal of the match when he nutmegged David de Gea, but his pass for the sixth took all glory.

Silva needed only two touches before he tore United’s defense and set up for Edin Dzeko, who made it 6-1.

An FA Cup Opener

In 2019, Silva starred in City’s FA Cup Final demolition of Watford at Wembley as part of City’s domestic treble-winning side. Silva opened the scoring in the 26th minute after some head tennis with Raheem Sterling. The ball fell nicely for Silva, and the Spaniard hit it on the half-volley to begin the rout.
