- AC Milan: Theo Hernandez (52′), Christian Pulisic (80′), Tammy Abraham (90+3′)
The match took place at Mrsool Park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Al Nassr’s home stadium, and delivered intense drama right until the final whistle.
First Half: Inter Takes the Lead
Both teams started cautiously, with few clear chances early on. The breakthrough came in first-half stoppage time when Inter capitalized on a quick throw-in. The ball moved through Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Mehdi Taremi before Lautaro Martinez finished clinically at the near post. The goal was Martinez’s fourth in the Super Cup, tying him with Paulo Dybala for the tournament’s scoring record.
Second Half: Inter Doubles the Advantage
Two minutes into the second half, Mehdi Taremi extended Inter’s lead. Receiving a long pass from Stefan de Vrij, Taremi controlled the ball smoothly and beat AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan in a one-on-one situation. This was Taremi’s second goal across all competitions since joining Inter on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.
Milan’s Stunning Comeback
Milan began their fightback in the 52nd minute when Theo Hernandez scored with a low free kick that curled beyond the reach of Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer.
In the 80th minute, Hernandez once again made an impact, sprinting down the left wing and delivering a precise cross into the box. Christian Pulisic met the pass with a well-placed shot into the far corner, leveling the score at 2-2.
The decisive moment came in the third minute of stoppage time. Pulisic threaded a through ball to Rafael Leao, who drove into the penalty area and set up Tammy Abraham for an easy tap-in. Both Leao and Abraham had come on as second-half substitutes, and their contributions sealed Milan’s dramatic victory.
Historic Achievement
This victory marks AC Milan’s first Italian Super Cup title since the 2015-2016 season and their eighth overall, tying them with Inter Milan. Juventus remains the most successful club in the competition’s history, with nine titles.
New Coach, Immediate Impact
The win is remarkable for Milan’s new coach, Sergio Conceição, who took over in late 2024 from Paulo Fonseca. Conceição claimed the trophy in his second match, setting a club record as the fastest Milan coach to win a title since the 1929-1930 season. The previous record was held by Vincenzo Montella, who won the Super Cup in his 18th match in December 2016.
With this victory, Milan has not only reignited their rivalry with Inter but also set the tone for what could be a successful new era under Conceição.
